On Wednesday, November 23, 2016, of Washington, DC. Beloved brother of David A. Rodgers (Nancy); uncle of Dana Rodgers Crisp (Blake); great-uncle of Ryan Crisp. Also survived by many friends. Philip was a kind and gentle man who was an Air Force veteran, a graduate of American University and worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a Copy Editor. The IRS Historical Research Library is dedicated to him. A Memorial Service will be offered at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Blvd. W., Silver Spring, MD on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. Inurnment service will be at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium at a later date. DeVIERNO, John

JOHN DeVIERNO (Age 93)

Of Kensington, MD, passed away peacefully at home on November 17, 2016. He is survived by Ida, his wife of 69 years; son John A. (Nancy); daughter Alice (Nelson); son Paul (Arfah); and grandchildren Christopher, Andrew, Ida and Benjamin. He was predeceased in 2004 by son Richard for whom he was proud to walk granddaughter Angela down the aisle in June.

Born in New York City, as a teenager he enjoyed Yankee baseball and excelled at academics, graduating from DeWitt Clinton High School. In 1936, he and his late brother Vincent were thrilled to attend Joe DiMaggio’s Major League debut. During WWII, he served in Europe for the U.S. Army and thanks to the G.I. Bill of Rights, attended evening classes at NYU, graduating with honors in 1954 and moving to Maryland in 1958 with his family. First with the Navy Department, he was in Federal Government service for 40 years, retiring after holding a series of administrative and executive positions with N.I.H. and the Alcohol, Drug Abuse and Mental Health Administration.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 10401 Armory Avenue, Kensington, MD on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 3 p.m.

On Thursday, November 17, 2016, of Rockville, MD.  Beloved husband of the late Dolores N. Rogerson; father of  David L. Rogerson (Anne), Laura D. Hollis (Steve), and Lisa Nelson; brother of John C. and William T. Rogerson; also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. Lifetime member of American Legion Post 268 and VFW  Post 2562 Wheaton, Md. DIAZ, Stephen Alexander

Stephen Alexander Diaz (age 27)

On Monday, November 21, 2016, Stephen Alexander Diaz, of Gaithersburg, MD.  He was born in Hyattsville, Maryland on June 29th, 1989.

Stephen attended Flower Hill Elementary School, Shady Grove Middle School and Magruder High School.

Stephen was employed as an Auto Body Technician at King Automotive in Gaithersburg, MD. He was a dedicated employee who cared deeply about his work. He worked hard to provide for his family, especially his daughter, Eliana. He was passionate about cars and spent many hours customizing his beloved Honda.

Stephen attended church every Sunday accompanied by his girlfriend, Rachel and his daughter, Eliana. Thanks to Rachel, Stephen had found his way to the Lord and grew deeply in his Christian faith. His favorite verse was Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Stephen’s mom and dad will tell you that from the second he started walking there was no stopping him! He was a very active child who grew into a humble, hard working, and dedicated young man. He was a loyal friend, son, brother, and most of all, father to his dear daughter, “Nana”.

Stephen is survived by his mother Sonia Diaz, father Cesar Diaz, brother Christopher Diaz, and his daughter Eliana Diaz.

Christine L. Ollo PhD

Christine L. Ollo PhD (born in Whiting, Indiana July 29, 1951) died suddenly on the morning of November 13th, 2016.  Chris’s academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University (1973) and a Doctorate in Psychology from Stony Brook University (1984). As a licensed Neuropsychologist in the state of Maryland, Chris was a tireless advocate for youth with special needs.  She was also an active participant in her community, engaging in local efforts for environmental protection, and the preservation of conservation land and parks. She loved to travel, particularly to Italy, and was an avid reader, belonging to several book clubs. She leaves her mother Lillian Klapak and four siblings who were always on her mind and in her heart: Reggie Ollo of Chicago (IL), Debbie Ollo-Bethune of High Rock Lake {Denton} (NC), Rick Klapak of Indianapolis (IN), and Cathy Klapak of Winston-Salem (NC). Chris is deeply missed by her devoted husband Pim Brouwers and the son she adored, Alex Brouwers, both of Silver Spring Maryland.

Edward J. Luksic, age 85, of Kensington, MD, passed away on November 22, 2016 from a form of pancreatic cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley in January, 1994 and his sister, Geraldine Carodiskey. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Paszkiewicz; brother, Joseph Luksic; his children, Edward, Jr. (Gayle), Thurmont, MD, David (Lisa), Silver Spring, MD, Guy (Martha), Simpsonville, SC, Theresa Goldman, Milwaukee, WI, Anita DeMino (Joseph), Gaithersburg, MD and Jill Sellers (Patrick), Highland, MD; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
